Many of you will have heard or read about the business rates revaluation which is due to take effect from April.
The Scottish Assessors Association has published provisional values with finalised figures due before the start of the new financial year. These figures are available on-line at www.saa.gov.uk
We have been advised it’s important to check them as they will not be revalued again until 2022.
We know that many of our Crieff businesses will not be affected. We also know that for some, the revaluation will have an adverse-affect. However, from the 1st April until 30th September 2017, there is a six-month window of opportunity when you can lodge an appeal. As well as appealing against the revaluation, there are a number of other things that can be done to reduce your rates liability.
The Scottish Government announced from 1st April 2017 There will also be a change in the Small Business Bonus Scheme where the 100% relief will now be available to properties with a rateable value of £ 15,000, up from the previous limit of £ 10,000.
